Home Bird

I love autumn.
Always have done, even as a child.

I'm very much a 'home bird'.

If you asked me, how I'd spend my perfect evening, the answer wouldn't be dining out, or a visit to the local pub, or the cinema. My perfect evening is snuggling up on the sofa in front of a open fire, a piece of chocolate cake (come on! chocolate had to figure somewhere!) a cup of tea, a musical or classic drama on the telly, a little bit of embroidery or crotchet and at the far end of the sofa engrossed in his newspaper...my husband. Not a lot really is it?

I love autumn.

Even the early mornings are special.
The mixture of sunshine and mist.
Nature at it's most magical.

I too am an autumn girl, I love the colours and the coolness of an autumn morning, the sunrise this morning was beautiful and we had a lovely blue sky day with puffy white clouds, the sunset was a mixture of blues that if I painted it people wouldn't think it was right.

what a stunning view, and very cosy lounge.

thank you for sharing with us...

Cheers Alex

I'm with you in being a home bird. I think it is something we are born with - but I find the idea of a cozy spot and a book ( and some chocolate) very exciting. Love your pictures. Cherrie

I loved your photos, very dreamy! Is that the view from your house? After a long, hot summer here I love the cooler autumn nights. the air smells so good and it's nice to snuggle up in bed. Living in the country is so lovely because you really get to experience all the seasons. Bye for now, Beck

I love Autumn but not this year with hot flushes - I keep having to pick up things to fan myself with! Now then toady I went to Bedale - havent been for ages. If you havernt visited then you have to go now!!!!!! Shops to look out for - House and Home sells China and then gose on for ever to hardware, paint, xmas decs, useful things........ Next Chocca - chocolates obviously - Emma Bridgewater and upstairs some dicontinued EB and Mr Rice. Lovely shop - even nicer people. Next - Red House - this first opened as a small gallery and then went out the back and now upstairs - heaven, heaven heaven, lots of lovely things to look at and very good prices for vintage things. We are having at least two of his architectural pics next month - in fact Alan is going to ask him to hold them for us as we have already had a treat this month - we bought a bronze lady from Helmsley Collectors Fair - naughty but nice - we have a perfect place to hang the drawings they are from a set from 1934 Nottingham - wonderful - we have been waiting to find some drawings that were right for the place. Then there is Dovetail on the road into Bedale from Northallerton, just down the road from the corner where the newsagent is. There is also an auction room on Fridays (every other one) which has lovely stuff. We has a lovely bacon and brie toastie in the cafe next to the Indian. So its a writh a visit place if you havent been. I bet after all this info you say Oh we go there all the time!!

Hi Fi.
What lovely autumn pictures, beautiful views. There's nothing like the comfort of your own nest when the nights are drawing in and your tucked up all snug, happy and warm! PS. Have you started our challenge yet? xx

Hi - Yes Strikes is good for Xmas Decs. We went to Elsecar yesterday - its a collectors do at a Heritage Centre about an hour away near Barnsley. It is in a big old building once a month but there is another building with booths and cabinets that people rent. Its just expanded and we had a lovely time. We also bought a Victorian table for the conservatory so I freecycled our old tatty Ercol one last night but no takers yet. I am off work today so am sitting here like a ldy of leisure! With damp hair at 9.15am. I will be posting a pic of the table shortly - it was a bargain and we are really pleased it is for eating on and me to sew on for small things I can laways use the kitchen table for big things though we dont need curtains at the moment!!. Barkers on the High Street have good decs as well. Do you need an upholsterer as I know one in Burrill near Bedale.

I'm very much an Autumn and Home person too. I think the autumn think is because of being born in September. Have always loved the cosiness of Autumn. Love those lovely pictures of the early morning mists in the lovely dales. I just discovered your blog having seen your comment on Attic24 and my eye being caught by you saying that you lived in Beverley. I grew up in a village west of Hull and lived and worked in Beverley for two years 2001-2003. Such a lovely place but looks like your move to the dales has taken you somewhere even nicer. Love the dales. Will be back to visit again.

I couldn't agree with you more about how to spend my evenings. You look so comfy and cozy sitting there doing your knitting. Those views in your photos are awesome...is that what you see when you look out a window from your home? Lucky you!
