Wedding Bells

Hello bloggy friends, I have something special to show you today.
Don't tell anyone though, because it's a secret!

It's a wedding garter I been busy making as a gift for a friend who's getting married next month. The idea is from an old Classic Inspirations magazine.
I do hope she likes it!

I hope it fits!!!

I used cream silk dupion

and embroidered it with ribbon roses and bullion roses

detached chain and seed stitch

I had an awful job getting a nice gift box locally!

I found one that wasn't too bad in the end.

I'm really looking forward to the wedding. It's taking place in this castle in Scotland, and we're getting to stay the night there, yipee!!!

There is one little problem...I haven't been able to find any shoes to match my dress! So here looms another challenge. In desperation I bought a pair of cream satin shoes and now have to try and dye them and then maybe embroider or embellish them. Haven't been able to get any shoe dye either, but no problem, I'll improvise with some fabric dye and a marker pen! You can see why I'll probably have to embroider and decorate them now!

Well I'll keep you all posted. I'm sure you could do with a laugh!

Fi x

The bride will be delighted I'm sure, the garter is just beautiful. And even more special because you made it by hand. Good luck with the shoe dying (brave woman!)

Its beautiful. What a fantastic gift and handmade aswell, you are obviously very talented. The box is lovely too. I wish I hadnt clicked on the link of the scottish castle as I started getting palpitations. Scotland is my most favourite place in the world. When!! I win the lottery I will be doing a highland fling and will buy a 'small' castle with turrets.

WOW what a beautiful gift the bride will be chuffed to bits. I work in a bridel shop and we don't sell anything as beautiful as that.
Good luck with the shoes.

What a fabulous present I bet she will treasure it forever. We went to Reeth yesterday and the blooming Fat Sheep was shut!! Did I spy one of your bags in the window - pinky purply colour felted bag?? What a lovely shop I was so cross - mind you I did say when we set off for the day that monday is not good for shops being open - Aha a thought has occurred maybe that is why Alan suggested Monday??

Oh, beautiful!! How lovely of you to create that for your friend. I love the bullion knot flowers (my fave hand stitch), well all of it actually, how clever you are.
Good luck with your hoes, sounds challenging!

Left a comment and lost it! Thanks for visiting - was going to take progress pics today but son had taken camera - typical. We feel like we are really getting there now with the house - only cos we floored the loft between us! and put all the mess up there!
