How to make a quick cushion cover when you should be...

cleaning and getting your studio/guestroom ready for imminent visitors!

Yes I should have been tidying this mess.

Instead I was making a cushion cover from child #2 favourite old pair of pj's.

Here's what I did.

Measure your cushion pad, and cut the pajama top to exactly the same size.

Cut through both the back and front of your pj's.

Place the back and front of you pj's together right side facing.

Stitch around all four sides.

Undo a couple of buttons and turn right way out.

Tadaa! Finished!

Last and not least.....PANIC!

Guests arriving any minute!

Catching up with time...

Good morning, it's 8:25am and I sitting here in the kitchen all by myself. The children have gone off to school. Wonderful man has gone upstairs to work, even Sneaky dog has gone to lay on the landing. It's just me and Terry Wogan (radio 2). The washing machine is churning and the clock is ticking. I'll just say, the kitchen doesn't look like the picture above. Yes that is my kitchen but as I sit here, it looks nothing like that! It's the normal breakfast time chaos like thousands of other kitchens at this time in the morning, but that's the only pic I have available for unplanned blogging.




You remember a couple of posts ago that I was moaning about time slipping through my fingers. Well, on the spur of the moment I've decided we should have a quick catch up; just so you know I've not been sat on my ample bum doing nothing. So here are some of the little projects I've been doing over the last couple of weeks.


The picture of the bunny and cat are a couple of test patterns for the children at school. I'm going to teach them how to knit after Easter so I needed something simple. These two patterns are courtesy of the Internet I will find the links to them for you, but just not now. They are really simple, the rabbit being just a tension square. Here is the link for the cat pattern, there is some bad language in the post.



I've also been crocheting little covers for fairy lights, make sure you use 100% wool if you have a go at this, I don't want you going up in flames!




Then I made my mum a card for Mothers Day. That's fabric stitched onto the card.


I wanted to make her an apron but it just didn't happen, so I bought her a nice Greengate one and embroidered her a little love message on the front.

I quite like hand embroidery.


I've made myself a new bag. I'll try and remember to take a pic of the finished article, that would be much better wouldn't it.




This is some hand embroidery for some new bunnies.


And lastly because I'm going to be late for work, this years nursery is right outside my attic window. Aaaaah.

We've got lots of visitors coming to stay over Easter so I'm sure we'll be having another catch up post when its all over!

Black Beauty

Hello.

It's a beautiful day here in the Dales today. The sun is shining and the sky is blue, although it is still very cold. We're going out to our first car boot sale of the year this afternoon. Might have to wear my wellies as it's taking place in the middle of a field. Yes it's very civilised around here, an afternoon boot sale, none of this getting up at the crack of dawn for us!

Wonderful Man and I have been out and about a lot this week, almost every day.

I had a lovely morning on Thursday, the high light of my week! I met up with Lucy of Attic24 at her Thursday Knit and Knatter session. I had a chatty, hooky, friendly, scrummy couple of hours with people I've never met before, but immediately felt comfortable and at ease with them. It was a bit like being wrapped in a cosy soft granny blanket.

Lucy is just as you would expect from her blog, absolutely lovely, sharing her hooky skills and spreading zingy crochet wooliness all over the table. I'm afraid I was enjoying myself so much that I forgot to take any photos but you can see some pics here on Lucy's blog, including the little crochet house I made her. I must just say thank you for all the lovely comment that were left on Lucy's blog. I was overwhelmed. Thank you. x

The photos above are inside a teeny, tiny wool shop in Kendal. I'm glad I don't have to stock take! Can you imagine! I does look rather fabulous though doesn't it?

Well I've waffled long enough and I'm expecting #1 and #2 any moment wanting bacon sandwiches. I just have time to share my latest charity shop purchase with you, as promised.

It's very heavy.

And very pretty.

I'm not sure if it works yet.

It needs some TLC, but it is rather splendid. Well I think so.

Sneaky dog just can't see what all the fuss is about!

After all, She's black, pretty, heavy and second hand!
