Paper Hearts and Discruntled Hens.

I'm taking a break from hexagons.
I've been having a play around instead. Something we all need to do now and again.

Inspired by Dottie Angel's stitched paper I sewed fabric hearts onto some old printed pages and cut them out.

I particularly like the the ones with a bit of map on the back.

So they are now dangling in my porch which is open to the elements, so it will be interesting to see how long they last before looking a bit sad and past themselves. I think the term will definitely be 'weathered'.

Till next time

My hens come out each morning - I think expecting to see the snow gone. When they find it still there they go into the straw shed and stand about looking miserable all day. If they were to go back in their hut they would be warm in the straw but they seem to prefer to stand and look miserable.

The hearts look sweet and I love your fabric covered reels! A great way to keep the nice old wooden ones and scraps of favourite prints, but also great on the modern ones!

I have a bag of empty cotton reels. You have inspired me to "prettify" them. Your hens look as happy as my chickens. One cockerel keeps running back to the hen house and peering back out. Not snow birds!

What pretty little spools you have created. I have some old wooden spools that I think I may transform just as you have. Thanks for sharing.

Have you got a purpose for the pretty reels? There is something comforting about old cotton reels - I found a few at our local car boot and couldn't resist them - don't know what to do with them tho x Jo

Hi Fi,
Thanks for sharing that!
My daughter will be in raptures over these, but I think I might get her to make them herself! (she is 24)

Now I just have to find the right paper to cut up.

cheers

What a great idea, they look brilliant. I really like your covered spools too, I shall have to pinch your idea and pretty up my old ones!
Have a lovely weekend.

A great idea for the cotton reels, one I'm going to pinch (I can't bear to throw them away either!). I heart Dottie's hearts too, yours look so delicately pretty hanging by the window. My girls hate the snow too, but it doesn't seem to affect their laying.

The stitched hearts are really pretty. I love stitching paper but I think my sewing machine would disagree with me! I reckon I've blunted the needle stitching through card recently.
Nice chickens, all fed up and waiting for spring.... just like me!
