Shop, Shop, Selling.

Here it is, my little craft stall at the Vintage and Collectors Fair last weekend. Thanks to all of your best wishes I had a good day even though it didn't start quite how I expected and I was very nervous being a craft stall virgin and all!

It doesn't look as though there is much there but golly it all took a long time to make!

Actually... if you think, I created every item on that table then...yeah, I suppose there is quite a lot there for 5 weeks prep.

Lets have a little walk around the room, it won't take long as it was only a small room. The big hall was already in use for the usual monthly auction, so space was extremely limited but hopes are high that it will expand over the next few months.

This is Keith with all of his goodies.
I especially liked the three black and white prints of Whitby.

I must say a big thank you to Jenny for looking after me so well.

The fair went down very well even though the weather misbehaved itself very badly indeed. Gales and horizontal rain with lots of local flooding.

Actually it's no better today so I've spent the day uploading some pretties to my

Folksy shop.

and a lovely one off piece of vintage embroidered linen, now a plumptious cushion complimented with a bit of 30's style border.

The most wonderful length of vintage paisley eiderdown fabric just happened to float over from Jennys stall to my shopping basket.

Don't know how it happened!

I'm feeling more positive today thank you, you have all been very kind. I have a new job so hopefully all will be well, but we're not here to talk about work, no lets talk about this...

New Years Resolution

New Years Resolutions.

Nope. Never make them.

Except this year.

This year I resolve to sew at least a little every day.

.

I once read that people who want to become creative writers should keep a note pad at their bedside and every morning as soon as they wake, they should write for 20 minutes. It doesn't matter what they write. It can be complete rubbish, no matter, no one else need see it. It just helps to get into the rhythm and habit and I suppose eventually it will help your creativity flow.

Well who am I to argue?

.

I spend far too much time wondering what I should sew, or planning and working out how to make something. Choosing fabrics, matching trims, finding threads, searching for ideas. All this is not actually doing! Often I end up not actually making anything.

.

So every day I will have my 20 minutes of sewing.

.

I hope it works.

.

Only time will tell.

.

Surely creating, creates creativity.

.

(Gosh! That was a bit deep for me!)

Bake or Fake!

Hello Ladies, first things first. I would just like to say thank you to Lyn at Everyday Life for giving me this award.
The 'Lemonade' award is for "seeing blessings where they're not obvious and make lemonade instead if complaining about sour lemons"

And talking of lemons... This is lemon layer pudding.


This pudding is all mixed together in one bowl but then during baking, separates, leaving sponge on the top and lemon sauce on the bottom!


Pure genius! No need to make custard!
I need to find a chocolate recipe!

Mince pies!
All made from fabric of course.

A little bit of sticky mince meat oozing from under the lid.

Hmmm..... can you smell them. Tee hee!

I love the little red berries, three different red beads.

It's no good, I'm going to have to make some real ones!

Stitching Christmas Pudding.

Hello ladies,

I'm sooo excited and I couldn't wait to show you my latest project. I'm soooooooo pleased with the way it turned out. I'll try and calm down a little bit so that I can type without having to backspace every other tippity tap!

Look! Look! Look at that little pool of thick cream that has trickled down the pudding and gathered on the plate.

Juicy red berries and prickly green holly leaves
and lots of delicious trickily, dribbily, thick cream.


Hmmm... smell that cinnamon.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Sorry about all that, but I'm feeling terribly, terribly smug. I wasn't expecting it to turn out so well. In fact I wasn't sure I could do it at all!

Pretty new fabric

Hello ladies. Look at these scrummy fat quarters.

Aren't they pretty? I can hardly bare to unfold them as they look so lovely.

Well you would think 12 fat quarters in one go would be enough, but look I didn't even make it out of the shop and I'd picked up another couple of lovely fabrics! I'm sure they placed the basket of fabrics directly in my path!

This is my latest 'cake', I was trying out different beads on the top to see which look best. I've found it very difficult to find big red beads that look like cherries to go on the top of the cake. Where ever I go I keep an eye out for bracelets and necklaces and ...well anything that might have big beads on it. I've searched the Internet to buy new beads but they are soooo expensive for the size I need. (about 18mm)

These beads are taken from 2 bracelets and I know they look nothing like red cherries but using a little bit of artistic licence, I think they are quite passable.

As long as it looks at first glance as if you could stick your finger in it, scoop up a big blob of creamy icing and lick it. Then I'm happy!

Mmmm...caaaaake.

Hello, this is my latest foray into calorie free 'baking.'


Karen at the Gifts and Interiors shop has the most beautiful mirrored cake plates with glass domes for sale.

Well a cake plate needs cake! The challenge was set and you know how I like a challenge.
Karen asked for it to be a 'Birthday Cake' but I like to cover all bases so I embroidered 'happy birthday' onto a separate circle of fabric so that it can be removed easily from the top of the cake.

Hmm... I want one for MY cake plate!
