A little round up with a giveaway at the end.

Today we need to have a little round up, a little regrouping session as I have found that I am creating faster than I am blogging. That sounds very industrious doesn't it but what it actually means is that my blogging is a bit sporadic, but I 'm working on it honest.
Firstly there are the photos of my finished Christening cake. All made from fabric just in case you were wondering.
This was commissioned by a friend who lives a couple of doors away and I'm glad I have it finished ready for the coming weekend.
I do hope she likes it. She's not seen it yet.

Staying with the food theme. I have a few fabric mince pies in case anyone needs a calorie free version for the festive season.

They make your special cake plates look pretty without you feeling the need to stuff your face with the real thing and pile on the pounds before the big day, lol.

Ah now the bit I've been looking forward to showing you.

I've finished my latest batch of brooches,

and I'm mighty pleased with them,

so I thought I'd share a couple of them with you and ...

see what you think.

Actually I've just this minute decided, as a thankyou for telling me what you think I'm going to have a giveaway!

YAY!

As a token of thanks from me to my lovely followers and occasional readers (all welcome here), because you are all lovely and I do really appreciate the time you take to comment on my blog. And I am very aware that I don't have as much time as I use to, to pop by all of you blogs these days.

So I will offer up one brooch of my choosing (similar to the ones shown here)to the first name out of the hat on...er...

Thursday 24th November.

Not long then!

Only a couple of days!

All you have to do is leave a teeny tiny comment or a whopping big comment the choice is yours, at the bottom of the post. That's it, no jumping through hoops I don't agree with all that having to become a follower and add a link on your blog, blah, blah, blah.
Just make sure I can contact you for your postal detail if you are the lucky winner.

Love Fi x

Edited to add....Please note I had the date for the giveaway as Thur 28th but Sue kindly pointed out that it was wrong so I have now corrected it to

Thursday 24th November, as it should have been.

So spitspot, quick sharp everybody!
thanks Sue.

GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED

THANK YOU.

What fun goodies you have been making. I think your neighbour will adore the Christening cake. Not so sure if the guests will appreciate a fake cake though!! Just kidding. Great memory for the little one.

Now onto those brooches, wow those little works of art are something else! They are amazing. I just love the different layers and the flowers you have embroidered on with ribbon. So cute.

*sighs* ... is there no end to your needle wielding talents? There's me feeling pretty chuffed with myself for hemming a pair of curtains this afternoon!!! :-)

The brooches are completely gorgeous. I just love the little frilly flowers; so pretty. Please put my name in the hat.

Following just isn't for me. I would rather like to eat one of those mince pies - they look that good! Great brooches too.

Love that Christening cake Fiona - such a pretty keepsake for the child.
As for those mince pies - I find it hard to resist real ones so they might be better on a plate. Actually, they look exactly like real ones in the photo.

Fiona,
I always love to see what you're up to, even if I rarely comment. Love those cute mince pies... and that they are calorie free!:))
Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your adorable creations.

Well I would definitely like to be the lucky one out of the hat and wear one of your brooches, they are very pretty. I have enjoyed following your blog this year and was so inspired by your lovely work and especially your applique, that I had a go at machine applique a while back (foxgloves and butterflies pic on my blog). Thankyou, Betty

Lululiz said...

When I saw the first pic of the mince pie, I thought we would be treated to a family recipe or something, and then I read the text and realised they were FABRIC mince pies! I can't believe how real they look! Love the heart shaped brooches as well, they are so sweet.

I think your mince pies are fabulous! Perfect remedy for someone (like me!) on a diet this Christmas. I came across your blog about a month ago and have been reading all your back posts, nearly finished! So jealous of the fact you live in Hawes, I was there in May when I visited boyfriends family in Askrigg. Hoping to visit the Dales again in the new year. Looking forward to more blog posts! :)

They're lovely - I'm not much into the current trend for knitted/crocheted food(I think I have seen too many knitted slices of gateau), but those mince pies are wonderful - felt is the way to go. I also love the christening cake - what a wonderful way to celebrate ( I wonder if it will be sneaked out to dolls and teddies tea parties when she is older?)
I love the brooches - particularly the ones that have what looks like a miniature postcard on them.

Kate said...

I agree - the little postcard and flowers are too precious. And the little mince pies make me nostalgic. Thanks for the give away!

There is so much good stuff here to comment on, and I'm in love with the cake. But what has really bowled me over is how you attached the buttons to the brooches. You didn't just sew them on, you kind of decorated them on. This is brilliant! I was just sewing buttons on a pillow last night, and THIS is what I SHOULD have done. I may have to do them over, or add something to them. Thanks for this great idea!

Cheryl said...

Is it wrong that I now feel hungry after seeing your mince pies? Amazing Christening cake! I love the way you add a flower when you sew on the buttons to your brooches. I may never be able to sew a button on again without adding a bud! Thank you for the inspiration and the chance to win one of your beautiful brooches.
