We all need keeping warm.

You may have noticed on your recent visits to my blog, a pretty rainbow up there at the top of my sidebar on the right saying Crochet a rainbow. This is a link to Sarah Londons lovely yarny blog asking for help for the victims of the recent Australian floods.

For a few weeks now I've wanted to help in some tiny way but didn't quite know what to do. I'd see other blogs asking for quilt blocks to be made and another asking for a sewing kits for the women who had lost theirs in the flood waters but I knew as much as wanted to help, realisticly I would never get around to making these items.
There were lots of good intentions but you know what it's like.

Then I discovered 'Crochet a Rainbow'.

Perfect!

All Sarah was asking for was to crochet some granny squares no bigger than 5 rounds. You don't even have to sew them together, just post them to Sarah and she would do the rest.

I knew I could fit this in here and there. A granny here and a granny there and HeyPresto a lovely bundle of grannies ready to be posted off to Sarah ready to be made in to blankets.
Why not snatch a few minutes here and there and do a bit of grannying yourself.

It feels soooooo good to granny for the good of others.

Go on...you could have completed the first round whilst reading this!

.

Staying on the same thread. I've been doing a spot of knitting. I must admit that's not something you'll hear me say very often as I'm not a very keen knitter, but I couldn't resist these little sandels.

And as there is a baby due a next-door-but-one how could I not give them a go. These little shoes are to fit 3 month upwards, so I decided a practical denim blue colour might be best,
but what if it's a girl?

Then I'll add some little crochet primroses.

Pleeeeeeeaaase let it be a GIRL!
.

Lovely booties, I can't knit. I've surprised myself by learning crochet, but knitting, I fear is too fiddly (and less forgiving).

Your blog is lovely and has been an inspiration. I've just started my own and have credited one of your tutorials/ patterns. I hope I have done the right thing, blogging etiquette is new to me.

Best wishes

Jen

The booties are gorgeous, but even better with the primroses. You're very talented.

Those little denim bootees are super and so feminine with the little flowers added. What a simple idea to make some granny squares - I'll see what I can do.

Those tiny sandals are exquisite - I do hope you are going to have plenty of pairs of those on your next craft fair stall Fiona - I think they would sell like hot cakes.

Too cute Fi, blue and yellow great combination.

Well done on the granny squares too. My rug has come to a standstill till I get some more wool, so I think I'll raid my yarn stash and make some granny squares and post them off toSarah......
Would like to know what you do with the ends of the wool Fi?
Do you use a needle and sew them in or crochet over them?
Beautiful Autumn day here, I'll be needing that rug before long.......

As someone who lives in Queensland, Australia I just want to say a big thank you to all you lovely ladies for doing your bit. The floods may be out of the news but the rebuilding process in some areas will take years.
(The boots are wonderful, I can understand you hoping for a girl).

I love your booties and the flowers just suit them so. Lets quietly hope for a girl, but not to be disappointed if not hey!!
I love how we women band together to help our sisters that are in some form of unrest all over the world. Me thinks 'them' that are in 'power' could learn a thing or two.

Those booties are so cute and what a great idea to add a little flower in case it's a girl. I have never knitted booties before, is it your own design or did you follow a particular pattern? Dev x
