Wintery Walk

Hello from the frozen North.
It's certainly feeling Festive around these parts.
I've been making a special Christmas card for my parents.

something simple.

What do you think?

We woke this morning to a covering of snow. This is the view from the attic window.
.
After work I popped in here
Peeping out of the cute, little window in the kitchen I could see the snow was starting to fall again. The Christmas tree looks lovely in the corner between the window and the fireplace.

Hmmm. Look it's still snowing.
After a lovely visit sitting for far longer than I should have in front of the open fire in the shop, I forced myself to venture back outside.

And because you asked to see inside our little Sweet Shop, I popped inside as I passed and asked if I could take a photo.
.
Are you ready?
.
I'm sure you'll like it
.
Be prepared, you'll want to come and visit
.

WOW! Look at that. This picture doesn't do it justice. There are fairy lights and tinsel around the shelves. Everything you could possible want from a sweet shop. Rows and rows of sweety jars. Chocolates, mints, toffees, liquorice root, ice-cream, marshmallows. You name it and I bet they have it.

Back outside and I pass Christmas trees and wreaths stacked up ready for the festive season.

The snow is starting to fall more heavily now. Up the steps to the....

empty car park. Gosh it's coming down now! Usually I can see hills in the distance.

After I get home and swap my full shopping bag for sneaky dog, I head back out onto the field. Here the snow is deep and easily comes over my ankles.

It's getting on now. Nearly time for the school bus.

As you can see the school bus was a little late. 25 minutes to be exact, even sneaky dog was fed up and cold. I must admit I was getting a little worried. The 16 mile journey from school is quite exposed in places and while I was waiting I watched several cars sliding and skidding around. If it keeps on snowing tonight the driver won't try and get through tomorrow. Looks like the school Christmas holiday will be starting a day early for us! YAY!

Till next time.

Beautiful photos. We're over on top of the Pennines in Yorkshire so pretty high up. We've had a dusting so far but Twiglet is convinced we'll have a lot over night. Will make his last day at school perfect, Carol service at the village church in the morning, party at school in the afternoon and snow - magic !!
Keep safe and cosy.

Your outside photos look picture-postcardy. Love them. And as for the sweet shop, I am very glad hubby and I don't live close, we would find it impossible not to drop in and pick up something

It all looks beautiful. We have snow here in Fife too but not nearly as much as you do - one of the benefits of living by the sea.

Keep warm and cosy!

Oh and fabulous sweetie shop! :o)

Thank you so much for the photo of the sweet shop. It's just as I remember from my childhood. What a glorious view you have from your attic window.

Merry Christmas!

Hi Fi

That makes my small offering of snowflakes look very tawdry, but despite your kind offer you can keep it all. It looks so much nicer 'up north' than it would 'down south'.

Have a lovely white Christmas.

I might need another rabbit if you are still making them as we shall have a new member of the family to welcome later in the year.

Nice snow pictures! The town is lovely - wish I could visit the shoppes! The weather channel here just said we have "heavy snow" coming from a northeastern' (Philadelphia area) for Saturday. Now, they tend to panic here in the mid-Atlantic region when they "think" snow is coming (not like the mid-west where everything stays open regardless) so it will be interesting to see if we get anything worth talking about. Keep up your posts I sure do enjoy them! PS - Does "sneaky dog" have a name? I get a kick out of you calling your dog that. There must be a story behind that.

Loving the photographs of Hawes, we've never seen it in the snow, Ribblehead, but not Hawes.

Your log fire looks most welcoming.

This is my first visit thanks to a visit to Attic 24. What a fantastical wonder world you live in. It looks too good to be true. I feel like I'm viewing Thomas Kinkade paintings. Merry Christmas to you, Annie

Oh how I wish I was there. There is nothing higher on my wish list than a white, COLD Christmas and since holidaying in Askrigg I have fallen in love with your beautiful area. I love it when you post photos of the village waterfall and I can say "I know that place" and " I've been there " and I recognise the car park! It makes me sooo happy but sooo envious too.

Thank you for the lovely photos and posts about your life in the fantastic Dales. I'll be back to visit some day but till then I'll be visiting YOU !

Keep warm and safe and have a Merry, postcard perfect Christmas
Cheers
Helen
