Hello all. There's no getting away from it. It's well on it's way! Christmas!
This is our local sweet shop window looking fantastically festive. I tried to take a picture inside but it was far too busy. It's a proper old fashioned sweet shop inside. Rows and rows of jars of sweets; and the walls are covered with vintage sweety and chocolate advertising signs.

It takes me ages to wrap each gift, but that's because I like to faff around choosing pretty ribbons and making my own gift tags..jpg)

Well you can't eat every thing on one day can you?
Really we're not that bad; we're visiting my parents for Christmas so it's ok for us to eat some of our cake now - we'll probably have seen enough Christmas cake by the time we come home again. Well that's our excuse anyway.

Hi, I'm new to your blog and love the photo of the sweet shop window. Would love to see a photo of the inside when you get a chance! If you get a chance to stop by my blog, you'll see that I am an Englishwoman in an American's body!! My Mum was English and all those years of drinking tea has really had an effect on me! Seriously, England was such a part of my childhood and early adulthood that it really is home. If you share the recipe for your Christmas cake, I would love to have it - it looks delicious.
When I come to Hawes I try not to look in that sweet shop window - it is too tempting. Your cake looks good - luckily it is a cake I can resist, so mine lasts quite a long time. Have a lovely Christmas if I don't see you before - but please call in anytime you are near. Blackberry whisky and sloe vodka have now been decanted and are available to all callers up to Christmas!

I know where that sweetie shop is, we can rarely pass it.
Gorgeous cake.
Our Christmas pudding arrived today. My Yorkshire born Mother in Law always makes it from an old family recipe, and it's the only one we'll eat.
Eventually I'll have to take over as she's 80 now.
Don't blame you for starting on your cake - and you're right you'll have had so much on the day that you won't appreciate it then. Anyway who can resist the smell?
Your waterfall does look lovely all lit up and isn't night time photography difficult. We used a tripod to get our Christmas light photos. It was the only way we could hold the camera steady enough.
