Sunday

Hello, I'm sitting in the passenger seat of the car clicking away with my camera.
We're popping over to Richmond from Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The sun is shining and it's good to be alive and outdoors.
Would you like to see?
Okay then, not a lot of photos and even fewer words.
Past the barn with the big doors

As usual, the road to ourselves
Bolton Castle in the distance

Left to Reeth in Swaledale or straight up for Richmond. This part of the journey reminds me of Cheddar Gorge.

This is the return journey, notice how the weather has changed

Askrigg

See the mist and low cloud in the distance, must be nearly home!

Home, sweet, misty, wet, home.
Isn't it beautiful?

Wonder if we met on the road, Fiona. We went down into Wharfedale, through Ribblesdale and back by Ingleborough to Hawes where we had lunch in the Creamery - whilst sitting there I pointed out your house to the farmer.

What a lovely set of photos. They sum up a drive in the Dales. Stunning scenery and very changeable weather.

Thank you for your nice comment on my blog. Unfortunately, when I was in Wensleydale last week, the weather was so poor that my photos of Richmond were too dull to post.

That was a fun. Thank you for the tour - I just love your beautiful English countryside. And those empty lanes! What a luxury.

What a beautiful post! My family spent Christmas 2001 in Kettlewell in the Yorkshire Dales - is that anywhere near you? My parents (they lived near Manchester at the time) rented a cottage (actually, it was a three-bedroom house) - my husband, daughter and I flew from Chicago and my sister and her husband flew from Oregon. We had a wonderful family Christmas in the most picturesque surroundings. Carolers came to the house the first night we were there, we went to the Christmas Eve service at the village church and ate lots of pub meals. It was fabulous. There's a lovely tea room just over the bridge in the village if you ever venture over that way.
