New Years Resolution

New Years Resolutions.
Nope. Never make them.
Except this year.
This year I resolve to sew at least a little every day.
.
I once read that people who want to become creative writers should keep a note pad at their bedside and every morning as soon as they wake, they should write for 20 minutes. It doesn't matter what they write. It can be complete rubbish, no matter, no one else need see it. It just helps to get into the rhythm and habit and I suppose eventually it will help your creativity flow.
Well who am I to argue?
.
I spend far too much time wondering what I should sew, or planning and working out how to make something. Choosing fabrics, matching trims, finding threads, searching for ideas. All this is not actually doing! Often I end up not actually making anything.
.
So every day I will have my 20 minutes of sewing.
.
I hope it works.
.
Only time will tell.
.
Surely creating, creates creativity.
.
(Gosh! That was a bit deep for me!)
.
Wish me luck.

How easy is this? Twenty minutes, no sweat.
Oh, my. So easy to say but it will take lots of effort to stick to this goal.
Perhaps, I'll join you.
Thanks.

What a great resolution. Good luck with it! 20 minutes might not be long enough, but it's a great goal to do at least 20 minutes!

I always start with good intentions, then everything falls by the wayside once 'routine' sets in! Good luck with yours.

Oh I love that idea, procrastination is a big problem for me. But I think I will follow your lead, and just get on with it and enjoy it, and go with the flow.

That's a great idea. I always get bogged down in planning and thinking. I might try it myself instead of spending too much time checking out brilliant blogs where people have actually made fabulous things!! Oh but then I might never have found your blog and I have found it quite inspirational -thanks.

Good idea Fiona. I spend hours thinking about what I might sew and then find it hard to actually start. Once I get into a project I am OK but the beginning is difficult.
As far as writing is concerned, I find that much easier and definitely do write every single day.
We have had a foot of snow now and it is a blizzard as I write. Keep warm up there.

Sounds like a good plan to me,I'll have to give it a try myself.

Oh I really hope you do stick with your 20 mins a day sewing resolution. I have the same problems as you, way too much thinking about, and planning, and messing around with bits rather than actually making, sigh.

Brilliant idea, and I see you're managing to keep to your resolution quite well!!! I know I won't manage 20 minutes sewing every day as I don't manage 20 minutes of stuff I need to do every day, but ... before reading all your January posts I finally unearthed my sewing machine and set it up all ready to spend the odd moment ... I can't remember the last time I used it. Maybe 6 months ago, maybe longer, but I'm feeling the need to get creative once again. I shall do my best ...

The 20 mins a day is a great idea of yours - and going public means it is more likely to happen. I'd love to join - even though it's already February.
I could set up a blog. - it's always a good way to post on progress.

What a great idea and 20 minutes a day shouldn't be too difficult. I seem to spend most of my time on the computer or planning and researching what I am going to make next without ever achieving it!

Hope I will manage it! Looking forwrad to going through the bloglist of members!
