Well it's finished and now residing with the lovely lady who commissioned it. You may remember it half done back at the beginning of last month. Well since then it's been...
Free motion machine embroidered. Not easy with something that measures almost 4ft x 3ft.
which gives some depth and definition to the wet felted flowers and leaves.
Embroidery threads have be chosen.
And much hand embroidery has ensued.
There has been some more needle felting as some areas were a little bit fuzzy after being stuffed unceremoniously under the sewing machine so many times.
and fiddly little Chinese knots were added to flower centres.
In all I've thoroughly enjoyed working on this piece and I'm veeerrrrry chuffed with it.
In fact I'd go as far as to say...
I think this is my best piece to date.

That's glorious! Love the combination of felting and machine embroidery.
Amazing. How can you part with it? It is extraordinary and I love it very very much. I love the use of texture and colour which is for me what gives it the edge over a painting. You are indeed very clever.
It is a truly fantastic piece of felt, no wonder you are so proud of it.
Wow, it's wonderful. Love the expression on the hare's faces, they mean business!

Fi, your work is always wonderful but I think I have to agree that this is the the best. I can't find the words to express just how fantastic it is - and if it looks like this on the screen - just how beautiful must it be in real life? I've no doubt that the lady who commissioned it will adore it and never, ever tire of looking at such an amazing piece of art.
